Reconstructing Humanity: A Diplomacy Rooted in Dignity

THE NINETEENTH SESSION

American University of Sharjah

Model United Nations

February 13th-15th, 2026

Reconstructing Humanity: A Diplomacy Rooted in Dignity

Letter from the Secretary-General

Dear Delegates, Advisors, and Organizers,

It is with great honor that I welcome you to the 19th edition of the American University of Sharjah’s Model United Nations. To serve as your Secretary-General is not only a privilege, but also a reminder of the responsibility we share in shaping the future through dialogue and diplomacy.

This year, our theme, “Reconstructing Humanity: A Diplomacy Rooted in Dignity,” urges us to reflect on what it truly means to uphold our common humanity. A diplomacy rooted in dignity centers humanity in our approach, allowing us to mediate the gap between what it means and what it could mean to be human. In a world where division overshadows unity, AUSMUN stands as a bridge closing the gap between reality and possibility by rebuilding trust, fostering understanding, and envisioning a more compassionate future.

Model United Nations is more than a conference. It is a call to empathy: to step into the perspectives of others, to listen before we speak, and to recognize that peace is sustained not through dominance but through understanding. The conversations you will hold in these committees carry meaning far beyond these rooms, shaping the way you will engage with the world as leaders of tomorrow.

On behalf of the Executive Board, I invite you to approach this conference with both curiosity and courage. Let AUSMUN be a reminder that even amidst uncertainty, hope can be renewed, dignity can be restored, and humanity can be reimagined when we choose to act together.

Best regards,
Sarah Ali
